Producer InformationThe vineyards are predominantly stony soils that have given the wine of Castello di Fonterutoli the nickname “wine of the stones”. The town of Castellina played an important role in the creation of the Chianti region. The estate is spread across 650 hectares, 117 of which are located in excellent locations including Fonterutoli, Siepi, Badiola, Belvedere, and Caggio. The hills reach an altitude between 230-500 meters above sea level. The winery has a very traditional approach to vine cultivation and aging. They strive for persistent development and consistency that has made the wines the benchmark for top-class Chianti Classico. The winery has the capacity to produce 700,000 bottles annually.
