Official notes
Nose: Apple, pear, vanilla, citrus and barley.
Palate: Honey, peaches, allspice, oak.
Finish: Honey and citrus.
Ed's review
Colour: Natural colour; light gold, like a chardonnay.
Nose: Apple juice and pear skins. Apple drop sweets. Oak, vanilla pods, and a dusting of cinnamon.
Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Icing sugar brings sweetness, followed by orchard fruits with apples and pears. A gentle oak character and a little vanilla. A little white pepper warmth adds welcome balance to the sweetness.
Finish: Medium to long finish. A crescendo with orchard fruit, then wood spice, leaving the palate bright and warm, ready for another sip.
Overall: Another enjoyable, fruity Speyside.
About Heroes and Heretics The Macnab
Based on the novel John Macnab, in which three well-respected members of society challenge themselves to take a stag, a salmon and a brace of grouse within 48 hours. Heroes & Heretics have sourced a beautiful 15 year old Westport single cask to celebrate the tradition of the Macnab.
Westport is not itself a distillery, but instead, Glenmorangie combined with a teaspoon of another distillery – this is commonly referred to as a teaspoon malt. Like the setting of the John Macnab novel, Glenmorangie is rooted firmly in the Highlands of Scotland.
